Trinity Christian Academy may have been on fall break the week of Oct. 2-6, but it was business as usual for the Lions who defeated Greenfield 41-0, last Friday.
Cooper Vailes, a junior quarterback, who completed five of six passes for 93 yards and three touchdowns and rushed for 24 yards on two carries and scored one touchdown earned the Victory Honda of Jackson, NEWS/TALK 101.5 FM, WNWS.COM, high school football ‘Player of the Week’ award.
“It’s really an honor to receive this award, and I know I wouldn’t be able to have received it without my offensive line,” Vailes said, “I’ve only had one (quarterback) sack this year. I also wouldn’t be able to do it without my receivers … getting open, making good catches.”
Coaches quote:
“Cooper has been very instrumental in our offense this year, learning the option game, doing a great job with the running game and he does an amazing job throwing the football,” said Darren Bowling, TCA’s head football coach, “He’s helped us get to where we are today … 5-2 overall and 2-0 in the (Division II, Class A) region.
“He keeps growing and getting better each week and we are excited about where he is and where we’re going with Cooper leading us.”
TCA returns to region play Friday, when the Lions travel to Memphis to face First Assembly Christian School.
