Jackson Mayor Scott Conger opened his reelection headquarters in downtown Jackson Tuesday.
“This is a little bigger crowd than last time,” said Conger, as a crowd gathered outside the campaign office (112 North Liberty) for a ribbon-cutting.
Conger, who is seeking a second term, compares his first two years in office – while focused on the pandemic – to a clamped garden hose. “Now the clamp is off, the hose is open and the water is flowing,” he said, with his goal to make the city the best it can be.
He urged those in attendance, and others who want to see the city keep moving forward, to get out and vote in the May 2 city election.
The wife of former Madison County Mayor Jimmy Harris, Loni Harris, is serving as treasurer for the Conger campaign. Thus far, Conger has the endorsement of Madison County Sheriff Julian Wiser.
The deadline to file for the May election with the Madison County Election Commission is Feb. 16.
