The consideration of an Ordinance to rezone property located at Epperson Drive to a Single Family Residential District comprising of 18.50 acres met stiff opposition from residents north of Northpoint Subdivision when the Jackson City Council held its monthly meeting at City Hall, Tuesday.
“The Planning Commission recommended the zoning to us (and) we had a lot of questions, because the public in that area reached out about concerns about access,” Paul Taylor said, “After going through the discussion and hearing from the residents and hearing from the developers there was a motion made by myself and Councilwoman (Marda) Wallace to table this until we could get some more information to make that decision … that failed and the council ended up passing the zoning request.”
Paul Taylor is the City Councilman for District 6, and Marda Wallace is a City Councilwoman representing District 7.
“What that allows them to do now is go back to the Planning Commission and submit their layout and design for the subdivision,” Taylor said, “That will go to the Planning Commission (and) we at the Council won’t see this issue again – we only deal with the zoning, and the Planning Commission deals with the technical aspects of the subdivision design.”
