Nelson is accused of murdering his father
JACKSON, Tenn.– Clayton Nelson is accused of the July beating and murder of his father Jeffery Nelson.
According to police, a welfare check call from the son to check on Mr Nelson resulted in the discovery of the father’s bloody body.
Officers entered the home after discovering an opened door. According to authorities Nelson had blunt force trauma to his skull and a large neck wound.
Clayton Nelson lived next door in the duplex his father owned .
According to investigators, a bloody shoe print, identifiable in size and wear pattern as well as brand, found at the home ties Nelson to the crime. Investigators say Nelson has admitted to a cocaine addiction which they say is one possible reason for the crime.
Jackson City Court Judge Blake Anderson sent the case to the Grand Jury. Nelson’s next court appearance is scheduled in December.
