A proposed budget amendment for the acquisition of the Jackson Plaza for $4 million and approval of the consideration of a contract with the Tennessee Department of Transportation for Interstate 40 at the Christmasville Road interchange highlighted the Jackson City Council’s monthly meeting at City Hall, Tuesday.
“Two notable items,” said Paul Taylor, District 6 City Councilman, “The purchase and sale agreement for the Jackson Plaza … we have some due diligence work to do before we close, but hopefully all that comes back good.
“We’ll also start this month looking at contracts for master planning services for that greater area.”
The Jackson Plaza is located on the corner of North Highland Avenue and Old Hickory Boulevard.
“In addition,” Taylor said, “We approved the initial portion of a grant for redoing the I-40 interchange at Exit 85.”
The timeline for the project is approximately three years with an estimated cost of $28 million with a $410,000 match from the City.
