City Council approves $2 million + for road resurfacing

The Jackson City Council’s approval of $2,302,656.60 for street resurfacing highlighted its monthly meeting, which was streamed live, Tuesday.

“We received two bids” said Susan White, Director of Purchasing, City of Jackson, “One was from Ford (Construction Company, Jackson) and one was from Delta (Contracting Company, Humboldt) and the lowest and best price is from Ford.”

“We have done business with both companies and it all came down to who submitted the lowest bid.”

Scott Chandler, City Engineer for the City of Jackson, said this phase of resurfacing covers 25 percent of the listings.

“It’s basically 19 streets … 10 have already been done, four more will follow that are not on this list,” Chandler said, “We will be working with JEA, and they have already (begun) working on some of the improvements they needed to do.”
