(December 2, 2013) Jackson, Tenn.- A tree, the mayor, and Santa Claus all gathered out in front of the Jackson City Hall Monday to kick off the Christmas season in Jackson.
Jackson Mayor Jerry Gist, with assistance from the jolly man himself, lit the Christmas tree that sits in front of the city hall.
After the mayor gave a speech, Santa took to the podium to let out a loud and festive, “Ho, Ho, Ho!”
The mayor approached the switch and the countdown began. As the crowd reached 1, Mayor Gist flipped the switch and the cedar was illuminated with light.
Mayor Jerry Gist had this to say about lighting the Christmas tree.
