Central Distributors moves to 1876 Lager Lane, Tuesday & Wednesday

Central Distributors makes its move to 1876 Lager Lane from 361 U.S. 45 Bypass, Tuesday and Wednesday.

“We plan to start taking deliveries of beer after August 7,” said Mike McWherter, owner/president of Central Distributors Inc. “We’ll continue to operate out of (361 U.S. 45 Bypass) until we deplete our inventory and get the proper permits to move.”

The new home of Central Distributors is located near Airport Industrial Park on what was Technology Drive.

Technology Drive is on the east and west side of U.S. Highway 223, and the west side of Technology Drive will be changed to 1876 Lager Lane.

The address is a salute to Budweiser, which began operations in 1876, and Bud is a Lager-style beer.

“We’re operating out of 60,000-square-feet here, and the new facility is in excess of 80,000-square-feet,” McWherter said. “The biggest difference is capacity. We’ll be able to hold more products.”

Central acquired about 25 acres of land for the new structure.

Its first warehouse opened in the early 1950s at 221 Sterling Court, which is located behind the Little Rebel Bar & Grill at 284 Airways Blvd., before moving to 361 U.S. Highway 45 Bypass in 1981.

Central Distributors serves Madison, Chester, Decatur, Haywood, Hardeman, Henderson, McNairy and Fayette counties, and half of Hardin County.
