Caleb Meriwether – Card Capital – visited with Grace Media Group for a question and answer session to discuss businesses he is associated with, and future plans for downtown property his organization has acquired.
Question: First, would you give us a little background information – where are you originally from, education, family?
Answer: I’m originally from Jackson, and graduated from college at the University of Alabama – law school at the University of Memphis. I married Whitney and we have a four-year-old and a two-year-old.
Question: What was Caleb Meriwether doing before his association with Haven Insurance Partners?
Answer: I was practicing law with Rainey Kizer Reviere and Bell.
Question: Haven Insurance Partners joins a growing list of businesses locating in downtown Jackson – especially the east side of Main Street and Lafayette Street. What is generating the movement?
Answer: First, the general momentum in downtown – it is hands down the best location in town. Great people, great businesses, and all of it is walkable.
Secondly, the availability of really great, older buildings in the specific area.
Question: Another company you are involved in – Card Capital – purchased 209-217 East Lafayette St., 210 East Lafayette, St., the Rockabilly Building, and 300 East Main Street. How did Card Capital evolve, and can you discuss any future plans for the most recent acquisitions?
Answer: We moved Haven (Insurance Partners) and High Point (Logostics) into the area in October, 2020. We quickly realized how great of a location it is. When these properties came available we discussed and decided to move forward with the purchase.
The interest has been great. We recently showed an out of town business around and they were amazed at the amenities and feel in downtown. They will be relocating early next year.
So, our plan is to develop and work with long term, high quality tenants. There will be a mix of commercial and residential. Several of the locations are already spoken for, so that has been great.
You’ll see that we have already begun renovations at two of the locations.
Question: Companies you are involved in – Haven Insurance Partners and High Point Logistics – are part of the expansion. How did the companies you are involved in decide downtown Jackson would be the best location?
Answer: If you work in downtown for one day, you will understand. You become a part of a community.
