The home portion of season No. 22 begins at 6:05 p.m., today, at the Ballpark at Jackson when the Jackson Generals face the Chattanooga Lookouts.
“We’re looking forward to another great season,” Tyler Springs said, “We have a new manager, Blake Lalli, who is all of 35 years old, and not too far from his playing days.
“The Generals feature a number of top prospects including shortstop Jazz Chisholm, the No. 1 prospect in the Diamondback’s system.
Tyler Springs, the manager of media relations, is better known as the ‘Voice of the Jackson Generals.”
A native of Baltimore, Springs studied English at Rhodes College and has called games for the Rhodes Lynx football and men’s and women’s basketball teams since the fall of 2013.
Springs made his way to Jackson after serving as a producer, board operator and update anchor at 56 WHBQ in Memphis, and he also interned in media relations with the Memphis Grizzlies of the National Basketball Association.
NOTES: The Generals, the Southern League’s Double A affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks, are the defending Southern League Champion. Jackson also won titles in 2000 and 2016.
The Chattanooga Lookouts are the Double A affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds.
