The number of people in attendance wasn’t announced, but the largest crowd in the five-year history of the Amphitheater at the Market, was entertained by Jackson native Brandon Lay, who was recently named one of Rolling Stone’s 10 new country singers to watch.
“It is so good to be back in my hometown,” Lay said. “We’ve been traveling the country all summer with Kenny Chesney, which has been a life changing experience, but there’s nothing like coming back home.
“We appreciate all the support, and we look forward to coming back next time.”
John Singleton, a singer and songwriter also from Jackson known for writing chart-topping hits, opened the concert with an acoustic show.
Toyota Bodine, which is celebrating 15 years in Jackson, hosted the ‘Block Party,’ – a free outdoor concert – to thank the community for its support.
The company, located at 310 James Lawrence Road, near Airport Industrial Park, also made donations of $15,000 to the Regional Inter-Faith Association and the Boys & Girls Club.
