MADISON COUNTY, Tenn – Neighbors say a someone driving down Betty Manley Rd was the first to see and report a body lying in a ditch.

Madison County Sheriff John Mehr called in Tennessee Bureau of Investigation to take the lead in the investigation.
Very little has been confirmed by T.B.I. or the Sheriff’s office except that they are working an investigation along Betty Manely Rd.
Thursday multi-agency resources and personnel were on the scene including: Madison County Sheriff’s Deputies and Investigators, Jackson Police Department Air One Helicopter, investigators from the JPD Gang Task Force, and Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.
Sheriff’s deputies were the first to arrive, around 11:00 A.M. Betty Manley Road was closed to thru traffic for most of the day and will remain closed throughout Thursday evening.
Around 2:20 Thursday afternoon Sheriff’s Department Public Information Officer Tom Mapes held a brief press conference
The Bureau’s Mobile Violent Crime Lab arrived around 3:00 o’clock.
Sources other than law enforcement have confirmed that a body was found along Betty Manley Road and right now it is being investigated as a homicide.
