CHESTER COUNTY, Tenn. (July 27, 2017) — Authorities will have to wait for autopsy results to find out what killed 49-year-old Chris Jones.
On Thursday a motorist notified Henderson Police of a man lying along Highway 45 south.
Jones body was discovered about 15 yards off the side of the 45 highway near the Americana Inn, according to Henderson Police Chief Wilton Cleveland.
Jones is a resident of Henderson and someone police say is known in the community.
How the man died is a mystery and the next piece of the puzzle won’t be known until the autopsy results are released.
Chief Cleveland said “There were no obvious signs of injury such as gunshot wounds, stab wounds or anything like that. He was not hit by a vehicle. That was very apparent”.
Cleveland said “We think he may have been running from something.”.
Police say when they found Jones he was holding one of his shoes, the other was found on the other side of the highway in the woods.
The body has been sent to Nashville for an autopsy.
