Bobby Greene was presented a key to the City of Jackson, and well-wishes from family and friends, during a reception at The Bakers Rack, Thursday.
Bobby, who was in the automobile business for nearly a half-century, is best-known as the owner – now former owner – of Old Country Auto at 514 Airways Boulevard.
Lonnie Cobb, who owns automobile dealerships in Humboldt and Henderson purchased Old Country Auto from Bobby Greene.
He began operations September 4.
“I’ve been in the automobile business a total of 46 years, and on the (Highway 45) bypass for 27 years, so it’s time to retire,” Bobby said. “Lonnie Cobb is a personal friend of mine, he and his wife (Danna) both. We couldn’t have found a finer couple nowhere, and they will take care of my customers.
“I wasn’t expecting nothing like this (reception), but I certainly appreciate it.”
Bobby was very explicit when asked his plans for retirement.
“Whatever my wife wants me to do,” Bobby said, “I’ll live to be a hundred doing that.”
