The Jackson Beer Board fined seven convenience stores during a Show Cause hearing at the Jackson City Council chamber, Thursday.
The fines levied were the result of an underage alcohol operation conducted by Metro Narcotics, December 14, 2017.
Old Medina Market, 2800 Old Medina Road, had its beer license suspended for 15 days.
S&S Food Mart LLC (Airways Quick Stop), 223 Airways Blvd., had its beer license suspended for 30 days, but if a $2,500 fine is paid within seven days, the suspension will be lifted.
Z Food Mart (Super Way), 736 Airways Blvd., had its beer license suspended for 30 days, but if a $1,500 fine is paid within seven days, the suspension will be lifted.
Zaid Group Inc. (Gold Line), 1819 Highway 45 Bypass, had its beer license revoked for one year.
Due to a second offense, Express Mart, 26 Bowling Drive, had its license suspended for 30 days.
Ragan’s Fuel Mart, 412 Airways Blvd., had its beer license suspended for 30 days, but if a $1,500 fine is paid within seven days, the suspension will be lifted.
Mega Mart, 1400 Highway 70 East, had its beer license suspended for 30 days, but if a $1,500 fine is paid within seven days, the suspension will be lifted.
“It would be great if we didn’t have to be here,” said Charles Rahm, chairman of the Jackson Beer Board. “But our duty as members of the Beer Board is to eliminate underage sales.”
