A North Jackson man was arrested after police catch him in the act of burglarizing a motor vehicle.
A concerned citizen observed the suspect acting suspiciously around some cars in the Walker Road and Brooksie Drive
area. The citizen contacted police and officers quickly responded. An officer located the
suspect inside a vehicle in the 700 block of Walker Road. The suspect had items in his
pockets that were discovered to be stolen from several cars in the area. Officers recovered
several items including Global Positioning Systems (GPS), bottles of cologne, an iPod
and cellular telephones.
At least five vehicles were determined to have been burglarized. Additional victims may
be unaware their vehicles were entered. It is noteworthy that the majority of the
burglarized vehicles were left unlocked by their owners. The Jackson Police Department
strongly urges the public to remove valuables from unoccupied vehicles and lock the
doors.
The investigation is being conducted by the department’s Burglary & Theft Unit. The
investigation is to determine if the suspect is responsible for additional burglaries. Police
anticipate criminal charges will be filed in Jackson City Court soon. Once the suspect has
been charged, his identity will be released.
