Arrests In Attempted Murder Investigation

MADISON COUNTY, Tenn — Madison County Sheriff’s officers have made arrests in an attempted
murder investigation.

19-year-old Harold Allen Vaughn of Denmark, 20-year-old Bethany Lashun Long, and 18-year-old James Nequan Martin both of Jackson have been charged in
connection with a Monday night shooting.

According to authorities, Monday night, deputies were called to a home on
Betty Manley Road regarding a gunshot victim.

The victim, a 41-year-old Memphis man, told officers he was in Madison
County to deliver a car and was supposed to have a ride back to Memphis but
they failed to show up. The man said he was at Loves Truck Stop trying to
find someone he could pay to take him back to Memphis. He was approached by
serveral individuals who offered to take him but instead of Memphis they
took him to Betty Manley Road and there they ordered him out of the car
and shot him multiple times. He survived and made his way to a residence
for help.

According to Sheriff John Mehr, investigators believe robbery was the
motive.

The three suspects, Vaughn, Long, and Martin all face charges of
especially Aggravated Kidnapping, Especially Aggravated Robbery, Attempted
1st Degree Murder.
