The Peabody Golden Tide – Region 6-2A – returns two starters on offense – Billy Wilkins, a running back, and Ace Meadows, an offensive lineman.
Defensively, Quen Brooks, a defensive back is the lone returning starter.
Despite the lack of experience, the Tide has a large supply of young talent.
Coaches quote: “Jerry Donald has progressed tremendously at quarterback and will prove to be a solid leader,” said Shane Jacobs, Peabody’s head football coach, “The offensive line should be in good shape as well, with Chander Milan, Dalton Moody, Joshwade Jones, Matthew Comer, and Brock Coleman joining Ace Meadows up front.”
As in years past, the Trenton bunch will have plenty of speed at skill positions in DJ Smith, Jaquan Kinnie, Landon Yarbrough, and Mikhel Wilkes.
“Each of these players also provide a formidable secondary,” Shane said, “Jayden Jennings and Paeton Denton will play linebacker. In addition to the above-mentioned offensive linemen, Robert Hernandez and Garrison Brown add depth on the defensive line.
“Derek DeHaan enters his senior season as the returning place kicker for Peabody after an All-District junior campaign.”
Despite Peabody’s youth, the consensus is Coach Jacobs will undoubtedly have this group ready for perhaps one of the toughest regions in the entire state.
