The Jackson Beer Board approved two special occasion permits, and approved the management change of one supermarket and one convenience store.
Peggy Moss, on behalf of an organization known as the Christian Girls Home of Moron, Haiti, was granted a special occasion permit to sell, store and serve beer at a fundraising event that will be held March 17, at St. Mary’s Holy Family Hall, 1665 Highway 45 Bypass.
“The event will be held from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m., and tickets are $50,” Peggy said. “We have 10 girls we are trying to raise to become responsible citizens in Haiti. Hopefully, we are giving these girls life skills they can share with others.”
Cocktails and a hors d’oeuvers buffet will be available, and the annual event includes a dance with Maji performing.

The board also approved a request for a special occasion permit from Jill H. Wade to sell, store and serve beer at an event known as W.R.A.P. Denim and Pearls, which will be held March 24, at the Carl Perkins Civic Center.
The largest annual fundraiser for W.R.A.P. will have a silent auction and dance.
The board approved the change in managers at Food Giant, 2596 Christmasville Road, and Mapco, a convenience store at 20 Johnson Creek Boulevard.
“The manager is listed on the beer permit,” said Charles Rahm, chairman of the Jackson Beer Board. “Anytime there is a change of ownership or management, they have to come before the board, so the City and beer distributor will have the correct records.”
