Angela Melton, a 15-year employee with West Tennessee Healthcare, accepted the employee of the month award for July, during the Board of Trustees monthly meeting at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital, Tuesday.

“I was very surprised, but I’m very honored,” Angela said. “I really thought the email I received about the award was spam, but I love my job and what I do, and it is ever changing.”

A Clinical Informatics Specialist in Clinical Informatics, Angela played a key role implementing Computer Physician Order Entry (CPOE) and Physician Documentation in the Cerner system.

She was recognized for the numerous hours she worked on data collection, design documentation, testing and training.

She is described as being well-respected, highly-valued, and extremely loyal.

Angela is also known as an employee who “goes above and beyond on every project and on every team in which she is involved.”

Tina Prescott, vice president/chief nursing officer manager joined Teresa Freeman, assistant CNO/Clinical Informatics officer manager to present Angela with the award.

“Long overdue … well-deserved,” Tina said. “We are very, very privileged to have her, and there is so much in her nomination forms. She is a huge asset to West Tennessee Healthcare.”
