Around 400 supporters of The American Heart Association gathered at the Carl Perkins Civic Center Thursday night for the annual Go Red for Women fundraising campaign.
The event was canceled last year due to the pandemic although the fundraising team, Women of Impact, raised over $60,000.
AHA West Tennessee Regional Director Amy Morris says a total of $186,000 was raised for the 2021 campaign.
Morris says this year’s 2022 Women of Impact team so far has raised around $51,000 and still has until April 7 to turn in all donations.
So far, the total raised for this year is $220,000.
The funds raised go to research and to help spread awareness of women’s heart health issues.
Heart disease is the number one killer of women. The evening included dinner by Doubletree Hilton and a fashion show by Delta Designs.
