Friday, February 2nd began a month of activities by the American Heart Association to promote heart wellness. The local chapter celebrated National Go Red Day with a reception in the lobby at Jackson City Hall with current and past classes of Women of Impact, a class of twenty women who commit to raising funds to promote good heart health.

Cardiovascular disease is the number one killer of women. AHA Regional Director Amy Morris says this year’s Women of Impact class has a special goal in mind, ” They want to raise $100,000 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the American Heart Association and they want 100 tables at the Go Red for Women event in March.” There are more details on how to donate on the West Tennessee Go Red for Women website.
Go Red for Women is scheduled for March 21st at the Carl Perkins Civic Center.
