JACKSON Tenn (November 30, 2018) – A Medical Center EMS ambulance was traveling east on I-40 when, authorities say, the driver lost control and crashed. The ambulance was transporting a patient from Jackson to a Nashville hospital.
According to police, the patient and the medic riding with the patient in the ambulance were both ejected from the back of the vehicle.
The accident happened around 7:15 PM near Charlotte Pike on I-40 East in Nashville.
WKRN in Nashville reports the victims were transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where both later died.
Medical Center EMS, is owned by West Tennessee Healthcare.
An official statement from West Tennessee Healthcare as follows;
Shortly after 7:30pm this evening, West Tennessee Healthcare management was notified that one of their Medical Center EMS ambulances was involved in a crash on I-40 Eastbound while transporting a patient from the Emergency Department at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital to a Nashville Hospital. “We do not have any details at this time of confirmed injuries or the cause of the accident, but we are still awaiting further information from authorities,” according to Amy Garner, Chief Communications Officer for West Tennessee Healthcare.
