If you read the press release, here is what you saw:

Damien Daniel Campos, age 20, was indicted for Child Molestation and Aggravated Sexual Battery in Carroll County, Tennessee. He left the area and could not be located.

On Sept. 9, 2022, the U.S. Marshal’s Two Rivers Task Force adopted the case as a fugitive apprehension investigation.

On Feb. 21, 2023, the U.S. Marshal’s Task Force in Lexington, Kentucky, became involved. They developed information the subject was in the area. After observing the suspect enter an associate’s car, the officers initiated a traffic stop and arrested the suspect without incident.

It looks pretty simple. Believe me. It’s not.

The officers in Carroll County had to work the investigation that resulted in the indictments. These cases are hard to work. Just dealing with the victim and the loved ones break your heart. They probably performed dozens of interviews at all hours to put the case together.

It is hard to describe how valuable the Marshal’s Fugitive Task Forces have become. The Task Forces comprise local, state, and federal officers, drawing on every available asset. These officers are the best in the world at what they do.

The members of the Task Force didn’t just “happen up” at the meeting between the subject and his associate.

Finding an associate of the fugitive and figuring out where the subject will meet his buddies can take a lot of hard work. The work consists mainly of interviews and surveillance conducted in hours of darkness.

The arrest happened “without incident.” That’s because the bad guys faced overwhelming force, not because they were nice fellows.

U.S. Marshal Tyreece Miller of the Western District of Tennessee thanked the Task Force members in Kentucky and Tennessee and all the other officers involved.
