Union’s Botwinick named first-team All-GSC, a first for Union men’s golf
Union University’s Jordan Botwinick was selected to the 2019 Gulf South Conference Men’s Golf postseason honors list, being named a first-team All-GSC performer. Botwinick is the first Union men’s golf player to be named to either the GSC first or second team since joining the GSC in 2012-13 and becoming eligible for postseason awards in 2014-15.
According to a press release from Union University Sports Communication, Botwinick, a junior from Germantown, posted a season average of 72.14 in seven tournaments for Union. His best finish was first place in the Don Morris Invitational. He had five top-10 finishes including a seven place finish in the Gulf South Conference Championships.
Botwinick posted four rounds under 70 on the season.
Union’s Montgomery named first-team All-GSC, a first for Union women’s golf
Union University’s McKenna Montgomery was selected to the 2019 Gulf South Conference Women’s Golf postseason honors list, making first-team All-GSC.
She became the first Union women’s golfer to be named to the GSC’s first team since joining the GSC in 2012-13 and becoming eligible for postseason awards in 2014-15. Montgomery was a second-team All-GSC selection in 2018.
According to a press release from Union University Sports Communication, Montgomery, a sophomore from St. Louis, posted a season average of 76.62 in eight tournaments for Union.
Her best finished was a first-place finish in Carey Collegiate Fall Classic, while also posting a pair of second-place finishes in the Don Morris Invitational and Phoenix Invitational. Montgomery had five top-10 finishes, including fourth place in the Gulf South Conference Championships.
Her lowest round of the year was 68 in the Carey Collegiate Fall Classic. She hit the program’s first hole-in-one at the Music City Invitational hosted by Trevecca Nazarene University.
