CROCKETT CO. Tenn. – Dr. Glen R. Bonifield was indicted this week; the indictments include 25
counts of TennCare fraud and one count of theft over $10,000.According to a release from the West Tennessee Violent Crime & Drug Task
Force, Bonifield is charged with billing TennCare for prescriptions that patients never received, and the sale prescriptions for cash.
The investigation began in 2015. Â According to the release, agents were able to
purchase controlled pills and crack cocaine from pharmacy employees.
Agents were also able to pass fraudulent prescriptions with the phamacist
for cash.Authorities executed a search warrant on Bonifield’s pharmacy.  Approximately 35
pounds of controlled substances were seized along with illegal weapons and
alcohol.The 76-year-old Bonifield of Bells is being held $350,000 bond.
Glen Bonifield is scheduled to appear Friday in Crockett County Circuit
Court.
