Representatives of Ford Motor Company and Haywood County Schools gathered at noon on October 22 for a ribbon-cutting ceremony at Sunny Hill School in Brownsville, to celebrate the newly renovated playgrounds made possible by the Ford Good Neighbor Plan.
Ford Community Relations donated $650,000 to replace 4 playgrounds in Haywood County. A pillar of the Ford Good Neighbor Plan is to create vibrant community spaces, which includes providing safe and accessible spaces for children to play and learn.
“When we learned that local students were selling lemonade to raise money to replace outdated playground equipment, we knew we wanted to step up and help,” said Ford Community Relations Director Gabby Bruno. “Building and renovating spaces where children can play and learn is a priority for Ford and we are excited to make these new playgrounds a reality.”
The ribbon cutting-ceremony included Ford Community Relations Director Gabby Bruno, Haywood County Schools Superintendent Amie Marsh, Brownsville Mayor Bill Rawls, State Representative Johnny Shaw, Haywood County School Board members and other community leaders.
“We are deeply grateful for the generous donation that brought our playgrounds back to life,” said Haywood County Schools Superintendent Amie Marsh. ”While their original design reflected a different time, we’re excited to create a new space that truly fosters safety, connection, imagination, and friendship for today’s children.”
