Murder suspect captured by Memphis Safe Task Force

No Safe Haven for Violent Offenders

 

Memphis, Tennessee – The Memphis Safe Task Force announces the arrest of Malik Merriweather, 24, in Memphis, Tennessee. Merriweather was wanted for First Degree Murder and Solicitation Criminal Attempt First Degree Murder out of Shelby County, Tennessee.

 

According to an affidavit, Memphis Police Department Officers responded to a shooting call on April 22nd, 2025, where multiple victims suffered from gunshot wounds. Two were later pronounced deceased, and their deaths ruled as homicides.

 

Today, while executing a state and federal warrant on an unrelated individual near Talley Road in Memphis, members of the Memphis Safe Task Force discovered Merriweather inside the residence.

 

He was found hiding behind a locked door and located by a Task Force K9. Merriweather had been wanted since April 23, 2025.

 

This arrest is a decisive demonstration of enhanced interagency coordination and unwavering commitment to public safety. The Memphis Safe Task Force, comprised of federal, state, and local law enforcement partners, continues to work across jurisdictions to bring violent offenders to justice swiftly and safely.
