My wife’s father owned this Motel when I met her on our first blind date on October 4, 1975 (almost 50 years ago). I took her “home” to this building and walked her in and met her parents.
He dad (ML *Red* Darby) and I hit it off right away and he was like a 2nd father to me until the day we lost him, especially after my dad died in 1991.
It will be bitter-sweet when this building is torn down. I ate a lot of meals in that little dining area and my future wife and I walked across the street to “Captain D’s” and “Shoney’s” several times.
