From the Jackson Police Department
[Jackson, TN] – The Jackson Police Department remains committed to maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for all who live, work and shop in our community.
On September 20, 2025, Jackson Police Officers responded to multiple reports from businesses and patrons in the area of the Columns Shopping Center concerning individuals aggressively approaching customers in the parking lot trying to sell candy. Officers made contact with the individuals involved and issued formal trespass notices, advising them to leave the property.
Later that afternoon, around 2:54 pm, officers received a second call indicating that the same individuals had returned to the shopping center. Upon arrival, officers attempted to address the ongoing trespassing issue. One adult fled the scene on foot but was apprehended a short time later. That individual was found to have an active warrant and was additionally charged with evading arrest. The other three individuals—one adult and two juveniles—were arrested and charged with criminal trespassing.
Upon contact with the individuals, they were hesitant to identify themselves, nevertheless, investigators determined that three of the four individuals had previously been arrested in Jackson earlier this year for similar conduct. All of the individuals are from the Memphis, Tennessee area.
Part of what makes Jackson great is the willingness to help and support each other. But please be aware that there are people that will use fraud and misinformation to take advantage of others.
