Fort Pillow state Historic Park Weekend Program

Saturday July 26th
10:30 A.M. Museum tour/ Haversack display/ Flags: Meet SIR Kyle at the museum for an informative tour through the Civil Battle at Fort Pillow, as well as an interesting insight on what the soldiers would carry on their person. A video screening on the park history is also included in this program.
12:00 P.M Paddle to Arkansas: Join the staff of Fort Pillow for a chance to paddle to Arkansas. We will be meeting at the Cold Creek boat ramp at 12:00p.m. to start the program. While we are paddling, we will discuss what historical features that will be in route. We will also be looking for any wildlife native to the area. There is a $10 programming fee for this program. Be sure to bring bug spray, water, sunscreen, and extra clothes just in case. There is limited seating so you must register either through the office or our website through tnstateparks.com/fortpillow.
3:00 P.M. Atlatl demonstration: Head over to the Basketball court parking lot to learn about the ancient art of atlatl throwing. This demonstration will be on how the early humans used to hunt with a spear and a device to throw the spear. All ages are welcome to join, please bring sunscreen and water as needed.
5:00 P.M. 1861 Springfield demonstration: Join Seasonal Kyle as he demonstrates the 1861 Springfield rifle commonly used in the Civil War. This demonstration will be held in front of the museum and intended for all ages.
