From West Tennessee Healthcare
We appreciate the feedback and concern from the community regarding the upcoming change in our hospital cafeteria hours. The decision to close the cafeteria at 10 p.m., rather than 1 a.m., was not made lightly.
After a thorough review, we found that late-night sales consistently fell short of covering the costs to operate during those hours. As a nonprofit healthcare system, we must be good stewards of our resources to ensure we can continue to provide the highest quality care and services where they are most needed.
At the same time, we understand the importance of having fresh and healthy food available around the clock—especially for our dedicated night shift team members, patient families, and overnight visitors. That’s why we are preparing to introduce new “walk out” kiosks, similar to those found in airports. These self-service kiosks will offer a variety of fresh meals, snacks, and beverages 24/7, providing convenient access to nutritious options at any hour.
We value the input of our team and community and remain committed to balancing fiscal responsibility with responsive service. Statement provided by Amy Garner, Chief Compliance & Communications Officer for West Tennessee Healthcare.
