Dyer County, TN – The Dyer County Sheriff’s Office is relieved to announce that Deputy Fair, who was struck by a vehicle while assisting crash victims on Highway 104 yesterday evening, has been released from the hospital and is now recovering at home.
As was released yesterday, Deputy Fair was involved in a serious incident while on duty, assisting at an initial traffic incident. While on scene, the Deputy was struck by a passing vehicle. Emergency medical personnel quickly arrived on the scene, and Deputy Fair was airlifted to Regional One Health in Memphis for immediate medical attention.
We are grateful for the swift actions of the emergency responders and the medical staff who attended to the Deputy’s needs. The support from the community and the law enforcement family has been heartwarming during this challenging time.
Deputy Fair would like to express his heartfelt gratitude for the well-wishes, prayers, and support received from the community, fellow officers, and friends. The Deputy is looking forward to a full recovery and returning to duty as soon as possible.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol is the lead agency and as a result of their independent investigation, George Dinwiddie, age 63, was arrested for DUI and driving on a suspended license. This crash remains under investigation and more charges may follow.
