MADISON COUNTY, Tenn (April 7, 2017) – Madison County Fire Department Captain Don Friddle said he is worried that two fires on Thursday were likely deliberatley set.
Around 4:30 PM Thursday afternoon Madison county firefighters were called to a brush fire on Harris Grove Road. In less than two hours they were called back to the same vicinity for another brush fire.
Madison County Fire Chief Eric Turner says he is concerned that someone wanted to do a lot of damage. “The winds were high and the brush is dry enough that it could have been a lot worse”, said Turner.
Captain Friddle said a vehicle was spotted in the area before the second fire was reported. A witness saw a blue pick-up truck either a full size or extended cab truck, said Friddle.
Chief Turner said this may have been a person that saw something or has information that can help with the investigation.
Authorities are looking for anyone that might have seen anything in the area of Harris Grove Road and Walter Helms Road on Thursday afternoon to come forward. Chief Turner says he is concerned that the next time there could be more serious damage done.
If you can help you are urged to call (731) 424-5577. Madison County Fire Department or Crime Stoppers (731)-424-8477
