JACKSON Tenn – (March 22, 2017) – An anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers regarding possible threat to a local school puts officials on alert.

Now Jackson police say they have spoken to a person of interest and determined there is no credible threat.

According to a statement from police,

The Jackson Police Department received an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers and is investigating. The tip was regarding possible threats of violence to a school. Investigators spoke to a person of interest and have determined there is no credible threat at this time. This investigation is ongoing and the Jackson Police Department is working closely with school system to ensure the safety of all students.

Earlier, in a news release, school officials said a tip about a possible threat was being investigated by police.

Law enforcement received an anonymous tip about a possible threat to Community Montessori School. As a precaution, school administrators are working closely with law enforcement to ensure the safety of students and staff at the school., according to the release.

Police say they are continuing to investigate the incident.
