Renovation is not in the master plan – for the time being – at the massive 210,940-square-foot Jackson Plaza.

Aronov Realty, Montgomery, Alabama, is the leasing agent for Jackson Plaza, which is located at the corner of North Highland Avenue and Old Hickory Boulevard.

Jackson Plaza has 19 available units for rent, but remains in neutral with three tenants – The Learning House, Party Headquarters and Citi Trends.

Locals will probably remember four businesses that once thrived in the aging shopping center – Belk, which is now located at the Old Hickory Mall, Big Star Supermarket, Super D Drugs and Service Merchandise.

Service Merchandise – the company – declared bankruptcy in 2002.

An Aronov Realty company spokesperson, who wished not to be identified, said “alternative measures” are being viewed for the aging property.

Alternative measures include selling the property or converting to other use – namely housing.

“We’ve had quite a few local calls about non-retail,” the spokesperson added. “But, whatever we do will benefit Jackson and its citizens.”
