JACKSON, Tenn. – The first-degree murder trial of 25-year-old Corbyn Davis of Jackson in
connection with the 2014 death of Jamar Rogers began on Tuesday.
According to prosecutors, Rogers, who was 24, was fatally shot on the
parking lot of the Omni Center on the 45 Bypass around 3 a.m. back in June
2014.
During the investigation Davis was developed as a suspect and
subsequently charged.
Rogers’ fiancee. Marlissa Smith testified the couple were together that night.
Smith says she and Rogers had been at a club in the area when they decided
to leave together.
Smith told the court she saw Davis in the parking lot and he called out to
Rogers.
Demarcus Triplett, told the court he was with Corbyn Davis the night of
the shooting. Tripplett said he was the driver of the car and Davis was
the passenger that evening.
The trial continues in Circuit Court.
