JACKSON, Tenn. - At Monday night’s commission meeting Madison County Sheriff John Mehr withdrew a his request to the County Commission for $30,000 to study the department’s building condition including electrical, air-conditioning system and other facility concerns . Financial Management Committee chairman, Billy Spain, said the proposal was originally approved but was then withdrawn by the sheriff. Mehr said he is going to handle it from his own budget and then bring the results back to the commission to show the results. Mehr said he will then tell the body what his plans are at that time. Several commissioners, including Jason Compton and Larry Lowrance, said these are issues that should have been included in the 2016-2017 budget request that was approved on July 1.
