A widespread power outage, sent thousands of JEA customers into the dark.
The outage occurred around 8:00 Thursday night.
JEA spokesperson Steve Bowers said a Carriage House substation had
problems
and backed up on a TVA feed line causing more than 4,300 people to lose
power.
The outage spanned a wide area of Jackson, Vann Drive to Airways
Boulevard and
east and west of Lower Brownsville Road .
In addition to residential outages, numerous businesses were without
power causing problems for customers and setting off fire alarms .
Jackson Fire Department responded to several calls for service resulting
from the outage.
According to Bowers crews responded immediately to identify the problem
and by approximately 9:50 PM all power to customers had been restored.
