MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — Memphis police say a traffic stop led to the discovery of 125 pounds of marijuana in a vehicle.
Media outlets report that after a Memphis police officer pulled over a car for speeding Friday on Interstate 40 in Shelby County, the marijuana was discovered in hidden compartments of a floorboard.
According to a police affidavit, 22-year-old Karla Denise Munoz indicated she and her two children were traveling from Phoenix, Arizona, to Columbus, Ohio, for a wedding.
Munoz was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to manufacture sell or deliver, speeding and violation of a child restraint law.
Munoz was booked into the Shelby County Jail on $100,000 bond. She was scheduled for a Monday court appearance. Jail records didn’t indicate whether Munoz has an attorney.
