When Jeremiah Jones plays football – he plays football.
Jeremiah, a junior at Humboldt High School, rushed for 201 yards and scored two touchdowns in the Vikings’ 34-0 win over Harding Academy, Friday, Sept. 6.
From his linebacker position, he made seven tackles – one for a loss – and broke up one pass attempt in the Harding win.
For his efforts, Jeremiah earned ‘Player of the Week’ from REIDTEAM.COM and NEWS/TALK 101.5 FM & WNWS.COM.
“You’ve got to love our offensive line … have trust in them,” Jeremiah said. “They’ve improved over last year, and they give me a hole and I run through it.
“We’re playing with a lot of confidence, and we hope to be 3 and 1 after our game at Greenfield, Friday.”
Coaches quote –
“Jeremiah is a great person on and off the field. He was voted team captain by the players and coaches. We’re happy with him and his development. On the field he is like a battering ram … a big, thicker kid who weights 215 (pounds) to 220 who just lowers his head and runs.
“The only time he comes off the field is because of special teams – he plays every snap offensively and defensively.
“Overall, the guys played hard and finished against Harding.
“At Humboldt, we have a lot of tradition – a lot of history, and it’s what we’re trying to get back to … something we’re trying to instill in the kids.
