McKenzie, Milan, Haywood, and Henry County made strong statements in their opening games of the 2024 high school football season.
But it’s McKenzie that takes the top spot in Grace Media Group’s WNWS.COM Baker’s Dozen area high school football coaches’ poll following its impressive come-from- behind win at Huntingdon, Friday.
Six schools that started the season in the top 13 – lost.
They include preseason No. 1 Riverside, Dyersburg, Dresden, Hardin County, Huntingdon and TCA.
1) – McKenzie (1-0) – won at Huntingdon, 38-35
2) – Milan (1-0) – won at South Gibson County, 34-28 (Thursday)
3) – Haywood (1-0) – defeated PURE YOUTH Academy, 44-14
4) – Henry County (1-0) – defeated Brighton, 49-20
5) – Covington (1-0) – defeated Munford, 35-0 (Thursday)
6) – Dyer County (1-0) – defeated Dyersburg, 47-16
7) – Crockett County (1-0) – won at North Side, 36-34
8) – University School of Jackson (1-0) – won at Peabody, 49-20
9) – Union City (1-0) – won at Murray (Ky.), 35-28
10) – Jackson Christian (1-0) – won at Northpoint Christian, 28-26
11) – Lexington (1-0) – won at Scotts Hill, 48-0
12) – Westview (1-0) – defeated Dresden, 64-0 (Thursday)
13) – Jackson Central-Merry (1-0) – defeated Liberty, 54-0
