Construction continues on a new Pre K-8 Pope Elementary School on Ashport Road.
Henson Construction Services Inc. of Jackson is the lead contractor on the 143,000 square foot facility, which will be located near Pleasant Plains Road, and will replace the existing Pope Elementary School at 1071 Old Humboldt Road.
A completion date is scheduled for late spring in 2025.
The total cost of the facility – fees, equipment, furnishings – is approximately $48 million.
“Due to a Team effort involving JMCSS/quality Subcontractors/Suppliers and Professional Services providers, the New Pope Prek-8 School is on Schedule to open for the 2025-2026 School Year,” said Cary Henson, president, Henson Construction Services. “Among the local entities playing important roles are Construction Materials Lab, Clay Williams & Associates, Surveying Services, Steel Fab, Townsend Supply, Hornsby Electric, McCoy’s Heating & Air, Tap Industries, Key Fire Protection and Yandell Construction. Keeping as much of Madison County’s money in Madison County is always a goal & we are glad this goal is being achieved on this important project.
