Nashville – U.S. Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) released the following statement on the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision on former President Donald Trump’s immunity case –

“Today’s Supreme Court ruling upholds the rule of law in our country and rebukes Democrats’ blatant attempts to weaponize our legal system against Donald Trump. Time and time again, Americans have watched the Biden administration do everything in its power to take down President Trump, but this partisan attack will not stand in America,” said Senator Blackburn.

The US Supreme Court ruled Monday that former President Donald Trump enjoys “absolute” immunity from prosecution for “official acts” during his presidency, although it left the exact extent of that protection for lower courts to decide.

The high court’s 6-3 ruling vacated an earlier decision by a DC federal judge and cleared the way for more appeals by Trump’s legal team that could set the trial schedule in the 2020 election case against him back months or years — if it ever happens.
