From Sacred Heart of Jesus High School –
It is with profound sadness that we announce the forthcoming closure of Sacred Heart of Jesus High School, 146 McClellan Road.
Our teachers, staff, and school families were informed yesterday of this unfortunate news. For twenty years, our beloved students have been educated with the principles of Religion, Reason, and Loving Kindness, have realized their dignity and potential, and have been reminded constantly of their abundant God-given gifts and talents. Our alumni have gone into the world with a solid and strong foundation upon which to build their lives and improve the lives of others, and we are so very proud of all that they have accomplished and will achieve.
However, Sacred Heart has faced enormous financial challenges over the past few years. These difficulties have been exacerbated by a global pandemic, a nation-wide drop in private school enrollment, and an economy which understandably makes it difficult for families to send their children to private schools. Our board members have diligently worked to find solutions to raise revenue in fervent hopes of avoiding closure, but as of this week were unsuccessful in securing a grant which would have kept our school open another year. Sacred Heart no longer has the funds to open our doors this fall.
In the coming hours and days, we understand that you may have questions. Our website at shjhs.org will soon contain additional information, and we will continue to update the website as we finalize plans for the closure of Sacred Heart. Our summer office hours are Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m., and you may call 731-660-4774 if you need assistance.
The Board sincerely thanks all of our friends who have supported Sacred Heart of Jesus High School since its founding in 2004. Your support and generosity allowed us to help our students learn Goodness, Discipline, and Knowledge through the Sacred Heart of Jesus, and we are certain our mission has not been in vain.
