JACKSON, Tennessee – Site Selection magazine has ranked Jackson, TN, No. 8 on its list of 2023 Top Metros – Tier 3, which ranked communities with populations over 50,000 but under 200,000 based on the number of industrial projects announced in 2023.
Jackson was tied for eighth place with several other communities, including Cleveland, Tenn. In Fiscal Year 2023, Jackson announced one new company location and six company expansions, bringing in 747 new jobs and over $447 million in capital investment.
“This recognition reaffirms Jackson’s position as a prime destination for businesses seeking to thrive and expand,” stated Mandy White, Chief Economic Development Officer at the Greater Jackson Chamber. “Our community’s collaborative spirit and strategic initiatives continue to attract investments, driving economic vitality and creating opportunities for our region.”
The annual ranking, conducted by Site Selection magazine, assesses communities based on their prowess in drawing investments, utilizing a comprehensive 10-factor index. This index leverages data from Conway Data, Inc.’s extensive database of new and expanded project announcements.
Site Selection magazine, a leading publication in the corporate real estate and economic development sectors, provides yearly analyses considered essential by industry professionals.
Bowling Green, Kentucky, is this year’s No. 1 metro area by projects with 23, just above the 19 projects in perennial leader Sioux City, Iowa-Nebraska-South Dakota.
In a three-way tie for third there’s Auburn-Opelika, Alabama; Lima, Ohio; and Saginaw, Michigan, with 11 projects apiece.
Hinesville, Georgia, located just south of the Savannah area, comes in at No. 6 with nine projects, followed by the Permian Basin dynamo of Odessa, Texas, at No. 7 with eight projects.
Then it’s a virtual melee at No. 8 with nine communities tied at seven projects apiece, including two in Tennessee (Jackson and Cleveland) and two in Georgia (Albany and Valdosta).
