Paton Sickler is a walking advertising board for Grace Media Group and NEWS/TALK 101.5 FM.
A resident of Gatlinburg, Paton won a $500 shopping spree from King Jewelers after he picked the point total of Super Bowl XVIII after he called Sea Bass and Coach Joe Holloway on ‘The Cheap Seats’ for his prediction.
Notified one day later, Paton and wife Debbie, who are originally from Kansas City and fans of the Chiefs, made the trek to Jackson and picked up their prize, Tuesday.
“I got a Citizen Titanium solar powered watch for myself, and a pair of golden earrings for my wife, Debbie,” Paton said, “I was amazed … never in this world thought I would win.
“I was the 57th caller (58 total), but during the game I wasn’t keeping track of the contest … I didn’t think about it. I got the call from NEWS/TALK 101.5 FM the next day.”
The station calling him must have seemed a little unique.
Paton will check in, occasionally – caller and texter – when Coach Joe, Bill Hamilton and Jimmy Butler discuss all things sports on ‘Saturday Sports Roundup’ – 9 a.m to 11 a.m., each Saturday.
“Joe Holloway and his wife Susan are good friends of mine and Debbie’s,” Paton said, “I enjoy listening and watching him on the show.”
