From the Jackson Police Department –

On February 11, 2024, at approximately 3 a.m., officers with the Jackson Police Department were patrolling the area of 23 Heritage Square (Slide & Ride 2) when officers heard shots being fired inside the building. Responding to the shooting in progress an armed individual was shot at the entrance by a JPD officer and succumbed to his injuries on scene.

Three patrons from inside the building suffered gunshot wounds and were transported to a local hospital by Emergency Medical Services. Each of these are in stable condition.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation responded to the scene and is investigating the incident.

The involved officer will be placed on Administrative Leave during the TBI’s investigation process pursuant to the Jackson Police Department policy.
