What started out as a routine traffic stop resulted in shots fired in the area of Skyline Drive and North Highland Avenue, Tuesday.

After officers with the Jackson Police Department stopped a motorist, a passenger in the vehicle – who had a warrant – produced a gun and began firing shots.

No one was injured during the incident and the individual was apprehended and taken into custody.

This is an ongoing investigation.
