Jackson, Tennessee – A $425 million investment Georgia-Pacific is making near McKellar-Sipes Regional Airport is beginning to take shape.
Dixie manufacturing, a 900,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art facility, which sits on 241 acres and is conveniently located near Interstate 40 and state Highway 223 will employ approximately 220 people.
The facility is expected to significantly increase the supply of disposable tableware products is scheduled to be operational in the summer of 2024.
A few features include a climate-controlled environment, a printer, and associated plate forming converting assets.
Once operational, the Jackson plant will produce the well-known brand of tableware products, including the Dixie and Dixie Ultra lines of plates and bowls.
Georgia-Pacific directly employs approximately 460 people and operates six facilities in the state of Tennessee.
The economic impact of the company contributes to 1,430 additional indirect jobs, $100 million in labor income, and the capital investment in the state has totaled more than $250 million since 2011.
